Description

A weekend of thought provoking dialogue, sharing the work of prominent activists, artists, and scholars to examine the Columbus legacy, its origins, implications, and symbolism.

Friday afternoon, October 5, at 5:30pm, at the UVA Art Museum, attorney and author Natsu Saito will speak on the illegitimacy of the occupation of this continent and the range of legal remedies.

Also Friday evening, October 5 at 9pm at Vinegar Hill Cinema, will be the East Coast Movie Premiere of The Canary Effect followed by Q and A with Ward Churchill. This award-winning documentary offers a fresh and horrifying perspective on the abuses enacted against Native Americans, both historically and in contemporary society.

Saturday, October 6 at 3pm at Live ARTS, author Derrick Jensen & musician, songwriter Dana Lyons will present an afternoon of music, song and in-depth social and ecological analysis and dialogue.

Sunday evening, October 7 at 7pm, Native American Historian and Professor Ward Churchill joins Saito, Jensen, and Lyons for a Public Forum and Group Discussion at Live ARTS.
