There will be a rally for women’s rights in Abady Park in downtown Richmond on Sat., April 28, sponsored by Unite Women (www.wearewomenmarch.net). Gail Hyder Wiley and Perri Rush Brown are organizing a bus to transport folks from the Charlottesville area there and back. The bus will board at Pantops Shopping Center at 11:30 a.m., and return at 6:00 p.m. Bring bag lunch, snack, and drinks. Seats are $20; with some free seats reserved for food stamp recipients. While the founders of Unite Women initially decided to set up these rallies because of the assaults on reproductive rights going on all over the country, the founders and many others planning to attend share other concerns, including education, workplace equality, voter suppression, and crimes against women and children. The recent nonsense coming out of Virginia’s General Assembly has awakened many to how much is at stake if we don’t stand up to protect women’s rights. Saying “Enough is enough” will benefit ourselves, our daughters, and our granddaughters.
