Sean McCord to Announce Candidacy for School Board

Charlottesville, VA – Long-time City resident Sean McCord will be officially announcing his candidacy for the Charlottesville City School Board Tuesday, June 5, at 4:00 PM. The press conference will be held at the Free Speech Monument on the Downtown Mall. Mr. McCord will be issuing a brief statement, followed by questions from the media.
Sean McCord received his Bachelor in Fine Arts from UCLA in 1982 and has been a Charlottesville resident since 1991. His wife is a teacher at the Peabody School, and they have three children in three public schools: Johnson Elementary, Walker Upper Elementary, and Buford Middle. Sean lives with his family in Johnson Village in the Fry's Spring neighborhood and is an IT Specialist at the University of Virginia. He recently graduated from the Neighborhood Leadership Institute sponsored by the Charlottesville City Office of Neighborhood Development Services, a program designed to help prepare the next generation of civic leaders. Sean has also been a volunteer for the Charlottesville Podcast Network, a speaker for the Charlottesville Center for Peace and Justice, and a local blogger since 2000.
