Dr. Nader Majd, director of The Center for Persian Classical Music, brings the ancient sounds of Persia to Charlottesville with a performance and a talk about Persian music. Dr. Majd, a dedicated musician since childhood, started The CPCM in 1997 “to make Persian Classical music known to our American friends as a means to increase understanding between our two countries.” The CPCM employs the universal language of music as a tool for communication and cultural exchange.
Dr. Majd performs with The Chakavak Ensemble following a workshop from 1:00-3:00 pm. Admission to the workshop is free with advance purchase of a ticket to the 7:30 concert. No music background is required.
